Suitcase, watches and lots more for the new SLK

Stuttgart - The customized "boot bag" and garment bag are just two of the highlights of the new-edition Mercedes-Benz SLK. In addition to making optimum use of the space available in the new SLK, the bags are practical and boast an emotive, elegant design that excellently matches the style of the vehicle. The same is true of all the other accessories belonging to the SLK Edition - in other words, everything from the limited-edition watch set to the roadster cap and keychain.

Mercedes-Benz has always been known for its intelligent solutions. The customized luggage for the new edition shows that even a sporty roadster such as the SLK has plenty of space for travel bags. The garment bag, which can be hung up on a hook behind the driver's or passenger's seat, ensures that shirts, jackets or suits can be transported crease-free. What's more, the customized bag makes optimum use of the SLK's boot space, even when the vario-roof is open. Both items are made of water-repellent ballistic nylon - an easy-care material that is particularly tear-resistant and creaseproof.

In the year in which the first SLK made its debut, the matching watch became a cult object almost as quickly as the car itself. Today's limited-edition watch set comprises a reproduction of the long sold-out SLK watch from 1996 with a new SLK watch of 2004. Appropriate to the year in which the new SLK is being launched, the edition is limited to just 2,004 sets. Both of these timekeepers were designed by Mercedes-Benz and are extremely practical with a sporty appeal. The SLK 1996 watch has a black face with silver numbers. It is character-ized by a red leather strap featuring the distinctive power domes of the SLK hood. The new SLK watch of 2004 in aluminium casing stands out thanks to its silver face and perforated red leather strap. The two watches come in a high-quality metal box together with a chrome-plated model car scaled at 1:87 - a real treat for SLK enthusiasts.

The two other timekeepers from the SLK Edition may not be limited, but they are equally as fascinating. These are the "Black" SLK watch with a perforated black leather strap and the "Cockpit" watch with a black face designed to resemble a speedometer. Other attractive accessories from the SLK Edition include a roadster cap with leather peak, a keychain and a crystal paperweight.

Model-car enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with the new SLK: Detailed models of cars by renowned manufacturers in three different dimensions and each in three attractive colours are sure to set collectors' hearts racing. The scale models at1:18 and 1:43 are made of metal, whereas the model scaled at1:87 is made of plastic. With the exception of one model of scale 1:18, all the models show the SLK with the roof open.
